between supermoons: a spell

a ritual for these times

for growing

for brightness

for glowing and flowing

and shrinking

and hiding

and climbing under the covers

ingredients:

a clear space / counter / shelf / mind

a candle / any color / any size, but big enough to hold your dreams

a promise (only you can make this one)

invite the possibility that this spell is already working

somewhere between the shifting of tides

and the aching of the growing days (or nights)

breathe in the probability that everything changes

(as it does, as it does)

conjure a feeling that you can hold

somewhere between your heart and ribcage

that small space of breathing

and rhythms like waves

call into yourself the moment where you knew

the thing you want to know

call into yourself the ally of your own presence

the gift that is refuge

from all the noises

breathe

light the candle that stretches to hold your vision

clear or not

watch the flame drip down the wick until

light

bright

beginnings

in the stretch between fullness and blue

watch the glow of something coming and going

all at the same time

welcome it and tell it farewell

because all things emerge and disappear

call into your center the space that is

trust

grace

maybe even daring

the promise to yourself that you can hold

all of the vastness

and smallness of this moment

perhaps this is a spell of paradox

something that doesn’t make sense

because it doesn’t have to

let the candle burn

burn away, burn toward

racing down, releasing your wish

your dream

to the places where things step into

the present time

into whole time

say thanks, say hello

say all the things you meant to say when the moon rose

and you were turned the other way

this is a spell for you

for us

for the quiet times

that want a voice too

between moons

there can be dancing

let your feet / heart / hair

sing

this rocking ship of a world

may sway

but it can also hold

About the Author

I'm a Witch, a priestess, international teacher, often-vegan, invocateur, ritualist, drummer, writer, moon devotee, Sagittarius, and Reclaiming initiate. I am committed to facilitating community growth and connection through ritual creation, storytelling, moon magick, drumming, and embracing beauty in all of its forms. And I am delightfully devoted to Aphrodite, Hecate, Iris, and the Norns. You’ll often find me writing poetry, singing to the moon, crafting songs, and looking for a snack. Here, I'll be writing about the moon, ritual, rewriting personal and collective stories, and poetry. And letting inspiration take the lead.
